Antique Remington-Smoot New Model No. 2 Revolver 30 RF Short
Serial #296, .30 Rim Fire Short, 2 3/4” ribbed octagonal barrel with a very fine dark bore with strong rifling. This is the Remington-Smoot New Model No. 2 Revolver manufactured from 1877-1885 with the .30 RF short being a scarce part of the total production with some 600 pieces manufactured discernible from the more common No. 1 revolver with a 7/8” wide cylinder and 2 3/4” barrel as opposed (the No. 1 has 13/16” cylinder and 2 13/16” barrel). In very fine to very fine antique condition the spur trigger revolver retains about half of the original nickel finish, now cloudy with the balance showing areas of flaking and cleaning. The checkered hard rubber grips are solid showing some flattening of the points in high areas. Mechanically it functions properly holding at half and full cock with proper indexing and a crisp trigger pull. Antique
