Colt Model 1878 Frontier Six-Shooter Made in 1899 44-40

Serial #41695, .44 WCF (.44-40), 7 1/2" barrel with a lightly pitted bore that has strong rifling.  This is an 1899-made revolver that has a few faint traces of the original blue remaining on a few protected spots, with the balance turned to a mellow plum-brown patina having gray fading along the raised edges and projections.  Mild freckling and pinprick pitting are present throughout the metal, heaviest on the frame just ahead of the cylinder.  The firing pin on the hammer broke at some point and has a period repair to the nose making it fully functional.  The checkered hard rubber grips are intact, with moderate wear and smoothing on either side.  The grips are original and numbered to the gun on the interior, and the loading gate assembly number (107) matches the frame number under the left grip panel.  The action is fully functional in both single and double-action, and the revolver rates about very good overall. FFL or C&R
