Antique Smith & Wesson Number One 2nd Issue

Serial #22770, .22 RF, 3 inch ribbed octagon barrel with a very fine bore with light roughness and strong rifling.  This is the Smith & Wesson Model #1, Second issue revolver manufactured from 1860-68.  In very fine plus condition the Civil War era pocket pistol retains about 90-95% of the original silver plate on the frame, most of which has a very nice patina flaked in several spots on the side plate and frame.  The barrel has a mottled blue gray finish with some very fine scattered pinprick pitting.  The cylinder, batch numbered to the barrel, cylinder and frame, retains much of a later added blue finish covering some mild pitting underneath.  The rosewood grips are serial numbered to the gun with the right panel having an old repaired crack.  Mechanically the action is works, cocking with proper cylinder advancement, crisp trigger pull and and no play in the barrel. The cylinder stop spring is weak and doesn't always hold the cylinder in place.  An overall very fine example of this classic Antique S&W revolver.  Antique.
