Beautiful Cased Deane, Adams & Deane Percussion Revolver
Serial #16886R, 54 Bore (.442 Caliber), 6" octagon barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some spots of minor dark freckling within the grooves. This is a truly handsome five-shot, double-action revolver that retains 92-95% of the original bright blue finish, with some fading to gray at the muzzle, as well as along the high and exposed edges. A good amount of the original bright nitre blue still remains on the loading lever and hammer block on the left side as well. The cylinder has muted color case-hardening remaining, with a predominately mottled gray patina throughout, as does the spurless hammer. The checkered walnut grips are in fine-near excellent shape with only some very minor handling marks and only mild flattening of the points. The lock-up is tight and the action functions flawlessly. The revolver is housed in an oak traveling case with intact Deane, Adams & Deane label, green baize lining, and a full complement of accessories: Hawksley pistol flask; cleaning rod; ebony-handled turn-screw; double cavity mold for both flat-based and sprue-based bullets; bullet base washer cutter; pewter oil bottle; and a small bag of cast lead bullets with cardboard base washers. Also included is an extremely rare, original, suede primer bag with intact Eley Bros. and Deane, Adams & Deane paper labels (prior to metal tins becoming generally accepted by everyone, percussion caps were also sold in wash leather bags like this, or in paper-wrapped cardboard boxes.) This is an absolutely splendid Adams revolver, cased with some extremely hard-to-find accessories, and rates excellent condition overall. Antique
