Cased Matching Serial Numbered Colt 1851 Navy Robert E. Lee & Ulysses S. Grant

This is a lot of two matching serial numbered Colt 1851 Navy commemorative revolver manufactured in 1971 to commemorate Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee.  The first set is Serial #2337USG, .36 Caliber black powder Percussion, 7.5 inch octagon barrel with a bright, excellent bore.  This is the Ulysses S. Grant Commemorative model 1851 Navy boxed set manufactured by Colt in 1971.  The limited edition revolver, total run of 4,740, is marked “ULYSSES S. GRANT COMMEMORATIVE – NINETEEN SEVENTY ONE” on the barrel with roll engraved naval battle scene on the cylinder.  In excellent, like new condition the barrel and cylinder retain virtually all, 99% plus original high polish blue with the frame, loading lever and hammer showing vibrant case-hardened colors.  The square back trigger guard and grip frame show very mellow aged silver plating.  It comes in a locking, English fit walnut presentation case with navy blue velvet interior containing a James Dixon & Sons bag style powder flask, “L” shaped nipple wrench, two cavity bullet mold and cap tin.
The second set: Serial #2337REL, .36 Caliber black powder Percussion, 7.5 inch octagon barrel with a bright, excellent bore.  This is the Robert E. Lee Commemorative model 1851 Navy boxed set manufactured by Colt in 1971.  The limited edition revolver, total run of 4,740, is marked “ROBERT E. LEE COMMEMORATIVE NINETEEN SEVENTY-ONE” on the barrel with roll engraved naval battle scene on the cylinder.  In excellent, like new condition the barrel and cylinder retain virtually all, 99% plus original high polish blue with the frame, loading lever and hammer showing vibrant case-hardened colors.  The square back trigger guard and grip frame show very mellow aged silver plating.  It comes in a locking, English fit walnut presentation case with gray velvet interior containing a James Dixon & Sons “stand of flags” style powder flask, “L” shaped nipple wrench, two cavity bullet mold and cap tin.
Two beautiful sets that are getting increasingly hard to find in high condition but and nearly impossible to locate with matching serial numbers.    Antique
