Antique Northern Plains Native American Moccasins
This is a pair of Northern Plains Native American moccasins, possibly, Lakota Sioux. They are in amazing condition and handmade to a high level. The beads and the seams appear to be sewn with a thick cotton thread. They are almost 10" long and about 4" wide at the widest part. There are only a few beads missing and the colors consist of a Chalk White body with Greasy Yellow, Pumpkin Yellow, Dark Green, Dark Red, Black and a Purple/Blue color. There are three bead strips vertically that surround the foot and 10 patterns in the White body. These are made of Deer hide have hard soles with leather ties and long front flaps. The moccasins have been worn and show the outline of the owner foot, clearly on the sole. This example is in over all near excellent original condition.
