Antique Smith & Wesson 2nd Model American 44 S&W Revolver

Serial #26418, .44 S&W, 8 inch round ribbed barrel with a very good bore with overall light roughness and one spot of moderate with very good rifling.  This is the Second Model American revolver manufactured by Smith & Wesson circa 1872-1874.  In very good overall condition the metal surfaces show a dark aged gray/brown patina with spots of very fine pitting.  The grips are solid and in very good condition with an old repair to the bottom of the right panel.  It functions well mechanically with a very good lock up and just a hint of play.  A very nice Second Model American.  Antique
