Antique Smith & Wesson 38 Double Action 2nd Model
Serial #93643, .38 S&W (black powder), 3.25 inch barrel with a very fine bore with strong rifling and light scattered roughness. This is the Smith & Wesson 38 Double Action second model manufactured circa 1880-1884 featuring the distinctive two sets of stop notches. The top-break revolver is in excellent condition with the barrel, frame and cylinder retaining about 95-97% of the original bright nickel finish with the back recurve triggerguard having virtually all of the original blue finish. The grips are numbered to a different gun and are solid with flattening of the points and general light wear. The lock up is tight and mechanically it functions properly. An excellent example of these early S&W Double Action revolvers. Antique.
