European Brass-Framed Flintlock Pistol With Snap Bayonet
NSN, .58 Caliber, 4 1/2" octagon barrel with a very good, lightly pitted bore. This is a handsome pistol, built along British lines, but devoid of proofmarks, that has an all brass frame and barrel. The brass has an overall dull yellow-ochre patina with some fairly well done foliate engraving along the sides of the box frame. The centrally hung hammer, frizzen, trigger, and trigger guard have a mottled plum-brown and gray patina with some mild pitting along a few of the surfaces. A folding angular bayonet with 2 7/8" blade is mounted on the underside of the muzzle. The bayonet still deploys swiftly and securely, with the catch at the muzzle functioning properly. The sliding safety catch, bayonet, and steel belt hook have a slightly more pewter gray patina than the other iron components. The checkered, bag-shaped walnut grip has light-moderate wear, with small handling marks present throughout. This is a very nice bayonet-equipped pistol, and would make a nice addition to any collection. Antique
