Buffalo Bill Cody Commemorative Non-Firing Winchester Model 1873 Franklin Mint
This is a non-firing, solid bore, Model 1873 Winchester replica display “rifle” issued by the Franklin Mint to benefit the Buffalo Bill Cody Historical Center. The beautiful replica features an engraved receiver with the right panel showing Cody shooting a buffalo while riding a horse and the left a standing buffalo. It bears serial #494993, and is marked “44 W.C.F.” on top of the barrel along with “WINCHESTER'S REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN, CONN, U.S.A. / KING'S IMPROVEMENT PATENTED MARCH 29 1866. OCTOBER 16 1860.-” and “Model 1873” on the tang. The barrel and magazine tube are a mottled brown and gray with some areas of light surface oxidation. The hammer and lever retain nearly all of their factory vibrant case colors. The remaining metal surfaces are plated brass with vintage style foliate engraving. The checkered walnut stocks rate near excellent and have some light dings and other handling marks. Though it is non-firing and cannot chamber a cartridge the action does appear to function correctly. This replica looks and feels much like the original 1873. It comes with the original wall mount with the name plate. A great looking replica perfect for the “Man Cave”. Non-Gun.
