CMP Service Grade M1 Garand Rifle by Springfield
Serial #5815599, .30-06, 24" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. The receiver of this rifle was made ca. 1956, and is mated to a 5-65 dated SA barrel. All internal parts are SA marked and the metal retains 97-98% of the arsenal applied parkerized finish, with only some mild silvering at the muzzle, along the op-rod raceway, and on the bearing surfaces of the bolt. The walnut stock has a DoD eagle stamp on the left side, with minor handling marks and surface blemishes scattered about the surface. Some small impact bruises are present along the top of the rear handguard, and there is a resin repair to a large chip on the left side of the upper handguard. The 2016-dated CMP inventory tag is still present and lists this rifle (by serial number) as a Service Grade with "1" muzzle reading and "2" throat reading. This is a great post-war M1 Garand, in very good-fine condition, and would make a great addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
