Colt Small Frame Lightning Rifle 1888 Colt w/ Peep Sight

Serial #2873, .22 Short or Long, 24” barrel with a dark, pitted bore. Gun has not been test fired. This 1888 manufactured rifle features a checkered forend, Beach front sight, octagon barrel, and tang-mounted Colt peep sight. The metal remains in very good condition with 70-75% original blue remaining, with most of the finish loss occurring on the predominantly plum-brown receiver. The barrel and magazine tube retain a higher amount of original blue, and some original color case-hardening is present on the hammer. The action pin has a series of small peen marks on both sides of the receiver, and the barrel has a few minor scratches and marks along the right side. The stock and forend have minor handling marks in the original varnish finish. This is a good-very good example of a small frame Lightning with a desirable original Colt peep sight. Antique
