Original Colt Dragoon Flask by Dixon & Sons, Sheffield
This is a very nice flask with fully functional spring-loaded spout, and spare ball compartment with "COLT’S / PATENT" marked sliding door. The "Trophy of Arms" design has the distinctive sharp detail that the Dixon-made flask are known for, and the metal has developed an attractive russet-ochre patina over time. The flask is very well-made, and is quite heavy overall, with only a handful of small shallow dents present on the body. This type is listed as F22 in "Colt Percussion Accoutrements 1834 – 1873" by Robin Rapley (1994); and is in very good plus condition overall.
