Documented City of London Police Issued Webley Metropolitan Police Model .32 Auto Pistol

Serial #61493, .32 ACP, 3 1/2" barrel with an excellent, bright bore.  This is a splendid "CITY OF LONDON POLICE" marked, Metropolitan Police pistol that retains 92-95% of the original bright blue finish on the slide and frame, with some areas of mild fading at the muzzle and along the edges and projections.  There is some minor freckling on the bright trigger guard, safety lever, and along the top radius of the slide.  A Police Broad Arrow proof is present on the left side of the frame, just above the serial number, as is an issue or rack number on the right side of the slide: "53."  The checkered hard rubber grips are in fine shape, having very little noticeable wear, and only some very minor flattening of the points.  A single, correct MP Model, all-nickel magazine with raised follower/slide hold-open is included.  This was a police-issued pistol, and is listed by number on page 207 of "Webley & Scott Automatic Pistols" by Gordon Bruce {1992}.  The pistol was manufactured between February 14 and February 20, 1911, and is listed by serial number as issued to D Division, City of London Police as late as 1957, just prior to the sale of all of the City of London Police Webleys to Stockton Arms Co. of California in 1958.  Despite the sale, these pistols are seldom seen today, and this example rates fine-excellent condition overall.  FFL or C&R
