Engraved Colt Model 1878 Frontier Revolver Sent to Hartley & Graham 1883
Serial #10762, .44 WCF (.44-40), 7 1/2" barrel with a very good bore that has some dark freckling within the grooves. This is an 1883-made revolver that has full coverage flowing New York style scrollwork engraving, and an overall dull pewter gray and plum-brown patina with some faint traces of original blue on some of the protected areas. The hammer and trigger both have an overall plum-brown patina with thin surface freckling throughout. The checkered hard rubber grips are in very good condition with light wear and flattening of the points throughout, as well as a chip missing from the heel of the butt on the right panel. The lock-up is still tight, and the action is fully functional in both single and double-action. The revolver is accompanied by a 2013-dated Colt factory letter that lists a ship date of April 6, 1883 to Hartley & Graham in New York City as one of 50 identical guns in the order. This is a very handsome early DA Colt, with extremely nice engraving. Antique
