Excellent Webley WG Target Model 1897 Revolver by Alex Martin

Serial #20877 (Martin #4593), .450/.455, 7 1/2" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is an extremely handsome revolver that has matching serial numbers throughout, including the grip panels, and retains 98-99% of the original lustrous blue finish, with only traces of mild silvering along the raised edges and projections. The barrel rib and topstrap have the retailer marking: "ALEX.R MARTIN", "20 EXCHANGE SQRE. GLASGOW / & 128 UNION ST. ABERDEEN"; with the Webley & Scott "Winged Bullet" on the lower left side of the frame. The hammer, knurled target trigger, and cylinder retention stirrup retain their original bright metal finish, while the thumb lever has a commensurate amount of the original blue remaining. The finely checkered walnut grips are in very good-fine shape with a few minor bruises and handling marks on both panels, some flattening of the points, and a single small chip at the top rear of the left panel. The lock-up is still solid and tight, and the action functions flawlessly. This is a superb example of a desirable WG Target Model, sold by a respected Scottish maker, and in excellent overall condition. C&R
