Extremely Nice Manhattan .36 Caliber Model Revolver Scarce 6 1/2" Barrel

Serial #60546, .36 Caliber, 6 1/2" octagon barrel with a very good, bright bore that has light freckling within the grooves.  This is a Newark-made, Type IV, five-shot model that retains an exceptional amount of original blue on the barrel, particularly along the underside, and the balance turned to a mild plum-brown.  The cylinder has about 40-50% of the original blue remaining, with the scene remaining crisp and visible.  Muted color case-hardening can still be seen on the frame and hammer that blends into an overall dark plum-brown patina.  The revolver no longer has the cylinder spring plate that was intended to prevent gang firing of the chambers (the screw hole on the face of the recoil shield is vacant), but this in no way affects the working of the action which is crisp and precise.  The brass trigger guard and backstrap retain about 30-40% of the original silver finish, mostly around the trigger, and the balance has a dull yellow-ochre patina.  The rosewood grip has some minor handling marks and blemishes on either side, with a series of peen marks on the butt as well.  All numbers match, including the wedge, cylinder, and arbor.  This is a great looking .36 Manhattan that retains an unusually high degree of original finish, and is in fine-near excellent condition overall.  Antique
