Lovely Pair of Flintlock Traveling Pistols by William Bond of London

NSN, .60 Caliber, 10 1/8" barrels with very good, lightly pitted bores. This is a handsome set of pistols that have a freckled pewter gray patina along the barrels, and on the elegant, engraved locks.  Some additional pitting is present around the touch-holes, and the Lombard St. barrel addresses are softened, but still legible, on both pistols.  Both locks are fully functional, however the sliding safety bars are frozen open.  The pin-fastened walnut stocks have small handling marks and minor surface blemishes scattered about, with an overall pale yellow-ochre patina on the brass fittings, and some minor flattening of the points on the finely checkered grips.  One of the ramrods is original, with trumpet-shaped brass head and brass-tipped ferrule at the base, while the second is a horn-tipped period replacement.  William Bond operated at 59 Lombard St., London, from 1823 until his death in 1836 (although the firm continued to operate under his name until 1845).  These examples of his work are in very good plus condition, and would make afine additions to any collection.  Antique
