Unique Factory Mismatched H&R “Bull Dog” Revolver 4 ½ Barrel Marked 32

Serial #20433, 32 RF, 4 1/2” octagon barrel with an about good bore showing light pitting and oxidation with strong rifling.  This is an interesting special order or employee put-together “Bull Dog” revolver manufactured by Harrington & Richardson built with the correct rim fire hammer and frame and a seemingly incorrect “32 S. & W. CTGE” marked barrel.  According to W.E. Goforth in his book H&R Arms Company 1871-1986  the “Bull Dog” line of solid frame, rim fire revolvers were only produced with 2 ½ inch octagonal barrels and the “American” line of revolvers were only produced in center fire with a range of barrel sizes that included 4 ½ inches.  The gun is in excellent condition with metal surfaces retaining virtually all, 96-97% original nickel finish showing some scattered very small flakes toning to gray-brown patina and overall light handing marks. The triggerguard retains a similar amount of original bright blue and the hammer shows attractive dark case-hardened colors throughout.    The black checkered hard rubber crown motif grips remain in near excellent condition showing a few mild scattered handling marks and have the aluminium grip escutcheons. The action seems to function well mechanically with solid timing and lock-up.   A one of a kind revolver in excellent condition that would be at home in the most advanced H&R collection.   FFL or C&R
