Cased Pair of 19th Century Spectacles
This is an original pair of wire frame spectacles with octagonal lenses and springy, telescopic temple arms with hollow tear-drop finials. The lenses are in fair-good condition; slightly cloudy with a diagonal crack through the left lens and have a magnification suitable for use as reading glasses. The glasses are housed in an oval metal case that has 80-85% of its original silver finish that has a pleasant tarnish, darkest within the creases and edges. The interior retains most of the original purple velvet lining and the front edge is marked: "PATD. JAN. 24, 1860/C. PARKER". This is a neat piece of 19th century optics with a great period case in good-very good condition.
