Original Colt Pocket Pistol Flask
This is a very good condition eagle-and-shield powder flask for a pocket-size pistol that would go well in a cased set. This has solid seams and sharp motifs on the 3-1/4” long copper body that has excellent patina with some darker spots in recesses, one face has a small shallow dent. The thumb-piece, spout and spring are in place and function with the spring showing some good blue. Both sides show an American eagle with canting to the right and peering up to its left, with raised wings, under a sunburst glory with two rows of stars above, arranged 4 and 5, with two on either side next to the wings. The eagle clutches a US shield with one claw and with the other holds five arrows jutting out to one side from behind the shield and an olive branch that spreads from the other. A pair of cocked revolvers are crossed underneath and at bottom is an E PLURIBUS UNUM ribbon scroll with a narrow raised border running down from the top, around the whole design and then back up.
