Percussion Conversion US Model 1816 Musket by Springfield Armory

NSN, .69 Caliber, 42" barrel with a dark, pitted bore.  This is a Type III musket that was converted to a percussion via the cone type conversion.  The barrel has an overall plum-brown patina with thin freckling and pitting along its length, heaviest towards the 1835 dated breech, and mottled gray at the muzzle.  The lock has a matching patina and has clear markings: "(Eagle) / US" ahead of the hammer; and, "SPRING / FIELD / 1838" behind.  The walnut stock has a dark oil finish, with numerous small handling marks and blemishes scattered throughout, and traces of a cartouche visible on the left side.  The musket comes with a steel ramrod, and the lock is fully functional.  This is a very good, arsenal converted US musket, and is in good-very good condition overall.  Antique
