Rare 36 Caliber Thuer's Patent Metallic Centerfire Cartridge For Colt Conversion Navy Revolver

This is the .36 caliber Thuer's Patent metallic cartridge for the Thuer Conversion of Colt Navy revolvers.  This rare tapered, two part brass cased cartridges had a separate internal center fire brass primer assembly and represents Colt's first a attempt at production of revolving firearms chambered for metallic cartridges.  It proved to be unpopular and short lived with patent dating to 1868 and gun production from 1869-72 only.  The cartridge is in excellent condition with collector markings on the side.  A rare piece for the advanced ammunition or Colt collector.
