Rare Deringer .22 Pocket 1st Model Revolver

Serial #208, .22 RF, 3 1/8" octagon barrel with a good, lightly pitted bore. This is one of only about 400 1st Model revolvers made, and has matching numbers on the frame, barrel, and cylinder. The metal retains about 60-70% of the original nickel finish, with the balance flaked to the underlying dull pewter gray metal, mostly along the sides of the barrel and on the cylinder (which has the correct, integral extension ratchet at the rear). The hammer retains some muted original color case-hardening, with some traces of bright fire blue on the hammer screw on the left side. The rosewood grips are in good shape, with some flaking of the varnish on both panels, as well as minor handling marks and small blemishes scattered throughout. The lock-up is good, with a bit of lateral play in the barrel, and the action is fully functional. This is a seldom seen example of a well-made S&W No. 1 clone, and would make a great addition to any collection. Antique
