Rare First Year of Production Colt Model 1877 Lightning Revolver

Serial #2586, .38 Colt, 3 1/2" barrel with a very good bore that has some minor freckling and pitting within the grooves.  This revolver was made toward the end of 1877 and retains 60-65% of the original nickel finish that has flaked to the underlying plum-brown metal on the balance, including on the mismatched trigger guard.  Some original bright fire blue can still be seen on the back of the hammer with the balance freckled plum-brown or gray.  The checkered hard rubber grips are not numbered on the interior, and are in very good condition with some minor handling marks on both panels, as well as some flattening of the points.  The action is partially functional, but does not advance the cylinder, nor does the sear engage at full-cock.  Nevertheless, this is a very attractive looking ‘77 Lightning that was built in the very first year of production.  Antique
