Scarce Tipping & Lawden Revolver by James Webb of Salisbury in .36 Lipfire
Serial #5046, .36 Lipfire, 5" octagon barrel with a very good bore that has areas of darker pitting along its length. This is a very handsome revolver that retains 90-92% of the original bright blue finish on the metal that has silvered along the high edges and barrel facets, with some mild flaking visible around the cylinder. The topstrap has the maker name engraved: "JAS WEBB, SALISBURY"; and "TIPPING & LAWDEN / PATENT" around the hammer screw on the left side of the frame. The hammer and ejector rod are both finished bright and have light freckling on some areas. The almost dainty checkered walnut grip is in fine shape with only some minor handling marks and flattening of the points throughout. The lock-up is still tight and the action is fully functional in both single and double-action. James Webb was a maker who operated in Salisbury from 1847 – 1867. This is a really handsome British cartridge revolver, and would make a wonderful addition to a collection. Antique
