Antique Smith & Wesson Model Number One 2nd Issue

Serial #20734, .22 RF, 3 inch ribbed octagon barrel with a fine dark bore with light roughness.  This is the Smith & Wesson Model #1, Second issue revolver manufactured from 1860-68.  In very fine condition the Civil War era pocket pistol retains about 75-80% of the original silver plate on the frame, most of which has a pleasant dark patina worn to brass on the high use areas and showing spots of Verdigris and corrosion near the top spring.  The barrel has toned to plum brown with traces of the original dark finish in protected areas and the cylinder shows much of the blue finish with some patches of corrosion and pitting.  The rosewood grips rate about excellent, solid with finish level scratches and are correctly numbered to the gun.  Mechanically it does cock and advance the cylinder properly but it does not lock into place with the top not properly functioning.  An overall fine example of these neat little pocket pistols.  Antique
