Springfield Armory 1906 Dated M1905 Bayonet + Leather 2nd Type RIA Scabbard 1907
This is a pre-WWI M1905 bayonet manufactured by Springfield Armory dated 1906 housed in a RIA marked second type leather scabbard dated 1907. In near excellent condition the 20 1/2” OAL bayonet has a 16 inch very lightly sharpened blade that is armory bright with scattered tiny carbon staining on both sides. It is marked “S A / (flaming bomb)/ 1906” on the reverse and “US / 111815” on the obverse. The crossguard and bottom ½ inch of the blade along the pommel are blued with much of the original finish. The wood grips rate excellent and are rack marked “36” with a corresponding “36” on the leather scabbard. It comes in an excellent original Model of 1905 “RIA” marked 1907 dated second type scabbard with russet leather covered wood body having a brass drain hole on the bottom, metal throat and pivoting wire clasp hanger for use in cartridge belts showing light use marks and scuffs with supple leather. An early pre-WWI bayonet and scabbard set.
