Swedish M1867–89 Rolling Block Rifle Bayonet

This is a Swedish M1867 bayonet converted to 8mm socket from 12.17mm. The M1867–89 socket bayonet is historically significant as the only socket bayonet to incorporate a coil-spring press stud. The conversion entailed removing the old socket and brazing a new socket in place. The join is plainly visible on this example. The socket measures 1.875 in., with the cruciform blade being just over 19 1/4". The bayonet is in very good to excellent condition with most of the heavy bluing in place, with only the lightest oxidation. The catch work nice and the side of the socket is regiment marked "14R3K No 49" with a serial number of 6546. Also marked " Crown C and PR/GM inspector marks.
