Unmarked British Flintlock Turn-Off Pistol With Brass Frame
NSN, .47 Caliber, 1 1/2" barrel with a fine, lightly freckled bore. This is an attractive pistol that has a mottled gray and plum-brown barrel that has traces of a twist pattern still visible, as well as moderate pitting scattered throughout. The brass frame has an attractive, bright yellow-ochre patina with British shield and panoply motif on the right side, and globe and panoply motif on the left. The delicate scrollwork and geometric engraving is still crisp and clear. The bag-shaped, walnut grip has a blank lozenge-shaped escutcheon, with a lion head buttcap, and numerous scattered handling marks with even flattening to the points. The lock and sliding safety are both fully functional. This is a very attractive little pistol, and is in very good-near fine condition overall. Antique
