Vintage Iver Johnson Sagamore Model Split Bamboo Fly Rod Boston

This is an early Sagamore model split bamboo fly rod manufactured by Montague for Iver Johnson Sporting Goods Company in Boston, Mass..  Marked “SAGAMORE / IVER JONHSON S.G.CO. / Boston” on the reel seat.  The three piece, 9'2” rod has two tips and all sections are fully intact with the stripping guide, two mid section guides and one on a tip section missing.  The nickel ferrules and reel seat are in very good condition.  Almost all of the original wraps are present and the cork grip is intact.  It comes on the original rod cloth lined rod holder.  Manufactured sometime between circa 1890's-1930's and is likely on the early end of that time frame.  A great looking display item for the Iver Johnson collector and would make an interesting pairing with one of their early revolvers.
