WW1 German Trench Knife

This is a typical German fighting knife as used during the First World War, and measures 10 5/8" overall with a 5 3/4" straight, single-edged blade with 3 5/8" false edge. The blade has most of the original factory polish remaining with some spots of freckling at the base of the blade where it meets the hilt, as well as at the tip (which has a very slight bend right at the point). The knife has an oval guard with flaked black paint on the faces, and the grooved wooden grips are in very good shape with some minor wear along the edges. The knife is housed in its original black painted scabbard with integral leather belt loop and keeper. The scabbard retains about 50% of the original black paint, and the leather components are worn, but still in fully serviceable condition. This is a fine example of a desirable German fighting knife overall.
