WWI German M1898/05 Pioneer Sawback “Butcher Blade” Bayonet 1916

This is a World War I model M1898/05 Sawback “Butcher Blade” sword bayonet maker marked on the reverse “E. & F. Horster / Solingen” with “crown over W/16” and proof on the spine.   In very fine  condition the blade has a very light sharpening and shows much of the original arsenal bright with areas of dried grease and sheath wear on the high edges with some carbon staining.  The crossguard, flash guard and pommel show a mottled gray/brown with light use marks.  The original wood grips remain about excellent.   It comes in a matching steel scabbard that is unmarked and showing much of the blue finish.  A very fine example of these highly desirable WWI German sawback Pioneer bayonets.
