Published Webley Pre-RIC Revolver With Bone Grips
Serial #25188, .380 CF, 4 1/4" octagon barrel with a very good bore that has some minor freckling and pitting within the grooves. This is a handsome revolver that has retained 85-90% of the original nickel finish, with some flaking, especially at the muzzle, as well as areas of plum-brown freckling scattered throughout. There are traces of original blue remaining on the spring safety on the left side of the frame, and on the external loading gate spring on the right. The topstrap is marked, "P. WEBLEY & SON / LONDON & BIRMINGHAM" with the Webley "Winged Bullet" trademark on either side of the frame. Matching serial numbers are present on the frame, cylinder, and cylinder pin, with matching assembly numbers on the pin retaining screw and loading gate ("1"). The smooth bone grip panels have developed a lovely, aged ivory-like patina over time, and are in fine condition without any chips or cracks. The action is fully functional, and the original ejector rod/lanyard swivel is still included. This very revolver is illustrated on pg. 18 of "Webley Solid Frame Revolvers – Models RIC, MP, and No. 5" by Black, Davis, and Michaud (2010), and a copy of the page is included with the revolver. This is a fine-near excellent example of a rare pre-RIC Webley, published in an important reference book, and would make a splendid addition to any collection. Antique
