Winchester Model 1894 Rifle in .30 WCF 1900 26" Barrel
Serial #87616, .30 WCF (.30-30), 26" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a small amount of mild freckling within the grooves. This is a 1900-made rifle that has 85-90% of the original blue remaining on the magazine tube and factory-replaced barrel, with silvering at the muzzle and on the magazine ring. The rifle was reproofed when the new barrel was installed, but the "WP" mark is offset to the left due to an axial notch added to the top of the receiver ring by the then-owner. The frame has traces of original blue remaining, with the balance worn to a pewter gray patina, while the hammer and lever have faint traces of muted color case-hardening remaining on protected areas. The walnut forend and buttstock are in good-near very good condition, with some minor handling marks and surface blemishes scattered about a period-added oil finish, and a short irregular crack on the left side of the wrist at the tip of the tang. The crescent steel buttplate has an overall mottled bright patina. The rifle has a high sporting bead front sight mated to an original Winchester rear sight. The rifle is accompanied by a Cody data sheet that lists an original shipping date of July 2, 1900. This is a handsome Model 1894, and is in very good condition overall. FFL or C&R
