Winchester Model 1894 Takedown Rifle Very Fine Condition
Serial #304267, .32 Win. Spl., 26" octagon barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a handsome takedown rifle that has retained about 92-95% of the original blue finish on the metal, with some silvering along the barrel facets, and raised edges of the frame. Most of the blue loss occurs on the underside of the frame, as well as on the top tang at the wrist. The lever is mostly pewter gray, but does have remnants of the original bright color case-hardening remaining on the protected areas. The rifle is further equipped with a modern sporting bead front sight, and an original Winchester Smokeless rear sight. The walnut forend and buttstock are in about fine shape showing a very light sanding and with some small handling marks and minor blemishes scattered about the reapplied oil finish. Also there is a small triangular chip missing from the nose on the right side. The crescent buttplate has an overall mottled gray patina, and sling eyelets are installed that look to be factory but are not on the letter. There is a small crack that is coming from the rear sling eye (see photo). The action is tight and fully functional. The accompanying Cody data sheet lists a shipping date of June 15, 1906, as order #58160. This is a great looking Model 1894 takedown, and is in fine-near excellent condition overall. FFL or C&R
