Antique S&W No. 1, 3rd Issue Revolver

Serial #88961, .22 RF, 3 3/16" barrel with a very good bore that has some moderate freckling within the grooves.  This is a very handsome revolver that has matching assembly numbers on the barrel, frame, and cylinder ("633"), with the metal retaining 95-97% of the original blue finish with some gray fading at the muzzle and along the raised edges and projections.  The balance of the metal has turned to a mellow plum-brown patina, mainly around the cylinder, pewter gray on the backstrap, and original color case-hardening can still be seen on the sides of the lightly freckled hammer.  The rosewood grips are original, numbered to the gun on the interior, and have monor handling blemishes in the slightly flaked original varnish finish.  The lock-up is still tight, with almost no lateral play in the barrel, and the action functions flawlessly.  This is a fine example of a late S&W .22 tip-up, and would make a great addition to any collection.  Antique
