Excellent Smith & Wesson Model 36 Chiefs Special Pre- J Prefix
Serial #731638, .38 Special, 1 7/8 inch pinned barrel with a bright, excellent bore. This is the Smith & Wesson model 36 “Chiefs Special” revolver manufactured in the late 1960's prior to the “j” prefix serial number guns starting in 1969. The classic revolver remains in excellent condition retaining about 98-99% plus original blue finish with very minor handling marks and a slight turn drag line. The service trigger and hammer retain bold case-hardened colors with minor operational wear. The checkered walnut factory grips are correctly numbered to gun and rate about excellent except the right panel showing a slight impact crush to some of the checkering and just below the medallion. This revolver features a Baughman ramp front sight, fixed rear sight, and correctly times and locks up. An excellent example for the collector or a fine self-defense gun. FFL or C&R
