US Flap Holster For Colt Model 1851/1861 Navy Revolvers

This is a brown, bridle leather holster with white stitching, and has a single angled belt loop on the back fastened by three copper rivets. The leather is in very good condition with crazing throughout, as well as some mild flaking along the flex point of the cover flap. The rivets have noticeable verdigris surrounding them, and the brass closure stud is no longer present, leaving a circular hole where the seam let go. No inspector or maker markings are visible. Additionally, a previous owner made two parallel, longitudinal slits in the reverse side of the holster near the tip, possibly in order to affix a lanyard or strap. This is a handsome Civil War era holster, and would make a great companion piece for a high condition Colt Navy.
