17th Century Germanic Hanger with Restored Grip
This is a handsome sword that measures 41" overall, with a 34 3/4" straight, single-edged blade having wide, single fullers along the entire length of both faces of the blade. The steel has been professionally cleaned and now has a mottled bright gray patina throughout. The forte has floral scroll engraving on both faces, as well as old sharpening marks along both the edge and false edge. The hilt has a fairly typical bilobate counterguard with numerous small piercings along the entire surface. The grip has a very nicely done, later addition braided copper wire wrap, triple branched knucklebow, and urn-shaped pommel with exposed capstan. This is a handsome sword, and is in very good-near fine condition overall.
