1898 Dated Krag Bayonet & Early Type Steel Scabbard

This is a Krag bayonet stamped US on the obverse of the ricasso and dated 1898 on the reverse.  It measures 16 3/16 inches overall with an 11 9/16 inch fullered blade lightly sharpened with visible grind marks along the blade edge.  The crossguard and pommel show light use marks.  The wood grips remain solid and near excellent condition with light surface use marks.   It comes in an early type steel scabbard which rates near excellent showing virtually all of the original finish with the plain narrow belt hook and has the pinned hinge but does rotate all the way.  A very fine example of an 1898 Krag bayonet.
