“Tramps Terror” Spur Trigger 22RF Revolver Hood Firearms Co. Antique

Serial #7017, .22 RF (black powder), 2.5 inch barrel with a very fine dark bore.  This is the “Tramps Terror” spur trigger pocket revolver, unmarked with manufacturer but likely made by Hood Firearms Company circa 1870's-1880's.  In near excellent condition the metal surfaces show about 80-85% of the original bright nickel finish which has flaked to plum brown on the cylinder and surrounding areas on the frame.  The rosewood grips rate excellent with almost all of the original finish.  The action functions with proper timing on most hammer pulls if the gun is flat or pointed down.  One of the best named, low cost, personal protection firearms of the late 1800's that fall under the “Suicide Special” designation.  Antique.
