Flintlock Long Rifle by Malcolm W. Lewis 1970s

NSN, .52 Caliber, 40" octagon barrel with an excellent, bright bore.  This is a very nice, full-stocked long rifle that was built along classic 18th century lines.  The barrel has a mottled brown and gray patina with evenly distributed spots of mild surface freckling along the entire length from past storage in high humidity.  Some slightly heavier freckling is present around the otherwise unblemished touchhole, and the maker’s name is present on the top flat just behind the rear sight: "MALCOLM W. LEWIS."  The freckling continues onto the lock with the heaviest freckling present on the forward surface of the frizzen, and on the swan-necked cock.  The tiger-stripe stock is in fine shape with only some minor handling marks scattered about the original varnish, and the brass nosecap, ramrod thimbles, trigger guard, sideplate, and patchbox/buttplate have a dull yellow-ochre patina with some areas of darker brown tarnish throughout.  The rifle comes with the original brass-tipped ramrod, and the double-set trigger is smooth and fully functional.  This is an expertly made, modern flintlock long rifle, by a desirable maker, and would make a great target or "primitive" big game rifle.  Antique
