Applegate-Fairbairn Combat Smachet Wells Creek Knife Gun Works

This is a standard model Smatchet made by Buck Knives for Col. Rex Applegate's Wells Creek Knife and Gun Works which measures 16" overall with a 10" heavy leaf-shaped, double-edged, full tang blade. The ricasso is marked "COMBAT/SMATCHET/WELLS CREEK/KNIFE AND GUN WORKS/Scottsburg, Oregon U.S.A.", with "Rex Applegate" and "W.E. Fairbairn" signatures opposite. The blade is in excellent condition with the factory edges intact and the grooved black resin grips are almost new and exhibit almost no evidence of use. The knife is housed in its original black ballistic nylon sheath with black para-cord tie-down and lanyard and is an excellent, nearly new example of a rare Wells Creek Smatchet.
