WWII German Flieger-Kappmesser LW Luftwaffe Paratrooper Gravity Knife
This is a Type Ia LW gravity Flieger-Kappmesser/Paratrooper Knife comprised of the blade, a 4 1/8 inch cutting blade which was manufactured between 1937 to 1941 by the knife maker Paul Weyersberg & Co. Solingen. This example is in excellent original condition with very good makers marks with a buffed blade. This blade is interesting in that it is missing the "ROSTFREI" or stainless mark which indicates it is made of carbon steel and very scarce. This knives wooden scales are in very good condition with normal wear and some, what look like rod/nail impacts. The spike is excellent and has the original point and marked with the stick eagle 5. According to Pattarpzzi's book, it is uncommon to find the locking lever and the subassembly with matching production numbers. This knife has the matching 43 on both these parts. As seems to be common on these knives, the blade slides out about 1/3 with the lever locked but the lock needs to be released to open fully and is locked and solid when deployed.
