1897 Dated Krag Bayonet & Early Type Steel Scabbard

This is a Krag bayonet stamped US on the obverse of the ricasso and dated 1897 on the reverse.  It measures 16 1/4 inches overall with an 11 5/8 inch fullered blade very lightly sharpened with scattered use marks and scratches. The crossguard and pommel show light use and impact marks.  The wood grips are both marked with “S” and remain solid and near excellent condition with light surface use marks.   It comes in an early type steel scabbard which rates excellent showing virtually all of the original finish with the plain narrow belt hook and has the pinned hinge limiting the rotation.  An overall near excellent example of an 1897 Krag bayonet.
