British Brass Frame Flintlock Tap-Action Pistol by John Jones & Co. of London

NSN, .45 Caliber, 2 1/4" barrels with very good, lightly freckled bores. This is an attractive and well-made pistol that has a tap-action pan allowing for sequential or volley firing of the top and bottom barrels. The barrels both have a mottled dull gray patina with some dark spots freckling scattered about. A matching patina is present on the centrally-hung hammer, frizzen, tap switch, and trigger guard. The brass frame has overall dull yellow-ochre patina, and engraving on the sides of the box frame. The left side has the maker’s name an oval: "JNo JONES / & CO."; while the right side has, "LONDON." The bag-shaped, uncheckered walnut grip is in very good shape, with scattered small handling marks, as well as some minor wear at the frame juncture on the left side. The action itself is firm and functional, including the sliding safety, however the tap selector stops are no longer engagin, thus allowing the lever to rotate a full 360º. Johnathan Jones & Co. operated at 12 Bells Bldgs, Salisbury Square 1828 – 1830. This is a nice tap-action from a known London maker, and is in good plus condition overall. Antique
