Excellent Great Western Arms Co. 22 LR SAA Mfg 1954 C&R

Serial #GW3388, .22 LR, 5 ½ inch barrel with a bright, excellent bore.  This is a 2nd year production Single Action Action revolver manufactured by the Great Western Arms Company in 1954. Produced to supply the great demand caused by the explosion of Western Movies and TV shows the Great Western Arms Co. began building copies of the famed Colt SAA Peacemaker revolvers.  The SAA remains in excellent condition with the barrel and cylinder having 94-96% of the original blue finish with some light use and holster marks mostly on the cylinder with light turn marks.  The grip frame is mostly a dark finish with spots of the brighter plum color that is typical of the early chemical mixtures they were working on perfecting with some light use marks.  The frame shows the original vibrant case-hardened colors that are somewhat muted along the edges and toning to gray.  The original faux stag grips rate excellent.  Mechanically it functions properly with proper timing and lock up.   It is well marked with “GREAT WESTERN ARMS CO” on barrel top with “22 CALIBER” on the side.  A great looking example of these very collectible 22 Caliber 1950's revolvers.  FFL or C&R
