Civil War Starr Percussion Cavalry Carbine

Serial #10316, .54 Caliber, 21" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some spots of freckling and pinprick pitting within the grooves towards the muzzle. The metal of this carbine has an overall dark plum-brown patina, with traces of the original blue still present on the protected areas. The frame has a mottled gray-brown patina, while the hammer and lock display muted original color case-hardening mixing with smooth plum-brown. Heavy pitting is present on the top and face of the pivoting breechblock. The brass barrel band and buttplate have a dull yellow-ochre patina, while the thickly re-oiled walnut forend and stock having numerous small handling marks and bruises throughout. There are some small chips at the nose of the forend, and a single narrow sliver of wood missing from the left side of the top wrist tang. This is a good-very good example of a Civil War Starr Carbine overall. Antique
