Civil War US Colt Model 1860 Army Four-Screw Frame Revolver Built in 1861

Serial #8868, .44 Caliber, 8" barrel with a fair bore that has dark freckling and areas of pitting along its length.  This is an 1861-made revolver that has all-matching numbers, including the wedge and cylinder arbor.  The metal has an overall lightly mottled pewter gray patina, with some scattered handling and impact marks, especially on and around the wedge.  Thin freckling and some pinprick pitting is also present, with some muted original color case-hardening still present on the rear of the frame.  The cylinder retains about 50-60% of the roll scene, and a few of the safety pins still standing.  The brass trigger guard has a pale, yellow-ochre patina throughout, while some pinprick pitting and old surface oxidation is present along the backstrap.  The walnut grip is likewise in good condition, with minor handling marks on the both sides, and visible inspector cartouches on either side of the butt.  The lock-up is still tight, and the action is fully functional.  This is a great looking, US purchased, four-screw frame 1860 Army, and is in very good condition overall.  Antique
